The Collège de l’immobilier du Québec will assess a candidate’s prior educational training and professional experience in order to determine whether he or she has already mastered one or more skills related to the different real estate or Mortgage brokering occupations.
This official recognition allows candidates to:

Choose the educational programs and courses that are best adapted to their needs;
-
overview of the skills that have already been acquired for a career in real estate;
-
Formally make use of a life experience.

COLLÈGE’S RPLS POLICY
The Collège grants equivalences based on a candidate’s education and life experiences. It also recognizes equivalences that are granted by other higher education organizations approved by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.
The Collège de l’immobilier du Québec’s RPLS policy is designed to:

Value the candidate’s prior accomplishments;

Help customize the candidate’s educational plan based on the skills he or she has already mastered;

Consider each request for recognition on a case-by-case basis;
-
Demonstrate transparency toward the candidate and fairness for all.
PROCEDURE
The Collège de l’immobilier du Québec has developed a fair and equitable procedure for the recognition of previous education and work experience.
Interested candidates must:
-
Determine that they meet the admission requirements for credited real estate programs,
-
Send the Collège a complete application with all of the required documents, the duly completed RPLS form, as well as the form describing the skills you would like recognized (mailing address: CIQ – 600 chemin du Golf, Montréal, Québec H3E 1A8),
-
Pay the administration fees associated with the RPLS application,
-
Write the required examinations,
-
Earn a grade of 60% or more.
PROGRAMS ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND RPLS
To be eligible for Collège programs and a Recognition of Prior Learning and Professional Skills procedure, the candidate must:
1. Have a secondary school diploma or alternative recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (including mathematics).
A) If the candidate does not have a secondary school diploma or alternative, the candidate could be admitted if the Collège, after studying his application, determines that he has sufficient training and meets the majority of the conditions mentioned below:

His academic performance in mathematics is above a passing grade;

He has work experience in real estate or in Mortgage brokering or a related field or in a field that uses similar skills;
-
His/her professional experience led to the development of accounting or administration competencies;
-
His admission interview shows his determination to have a real estate career or a mortgage broker career;
-
The reference letter from the owner of the agency to which he is affiliated testifies as to his determination to have a career in real estate or in mortgage brokerage.
B) For candidates who hold a diploma from another country:
-
In the case of a diploma from another country which appears in the Comparative Education Guides produced by the Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles, the Collège will determine if the educational level meets the required admission requirements;

In the case of a diploma from another country which does not appear in the Comparative Education Guides, the Collège can require the student to provide the equivalence as provided by the Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles.
2. Successfully complete a language equivalency examination in either French or English according to the chosen program.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The candidate must submit a complete application with all of the required documents, the duly completed RPLS form and the form describing the skills to be recognized, along with the application administration fees (non-refundable) to:

Letters or other written proof of work experience

Letters or other written proof of other relevant experience

Academic transcripts and diplomas showing proof of education

AFTER SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION
After your application is submitted, the Collège contacts all candidates individually to confirm receipt of their application and ensures that the application is easily understood.
Follow-up Process for the RPLS Application:
1. One-on-one interview and development of a personally adapted method for the assessment,
2. Assessment and tests or examinations,
3. Delivery of official results in writing.
The Collège de l’immobilier du Québec provides candidates with an official document attesting to the skills mastered by the candidate and explains the options for attaining the required skills. The candidate then decides on the educational path he or she wishes to follow and proceeds with the Collège’s general admission procedure.

FEES
The fees that must be paid are:

Enrolment and registration fee: $80. Individuals who have already taken courses with the Collège do not have to pay the $50 registration fee.

Complete analysis of the application and delivery of official response: $150 per skill
There are no reimbursements and payment must be made as dictated by the current practices and policies of the Collège.
